Learning Centre, Teaching and Forest Gardens

Dedicated to the teaching of practical horticultural skills to children and adults, the Teaching Gardens are adjacent to the Peter Buckley Learning Centre, which offers curriculum-based school workshops for children at all stages of learning.

Helping others to grow

Our community allotments allow people who are new to gardening to learn how to grow their own fruit and veg under the expert guidance of the Rosemoor edibles team. Each year a new group of allotment keepers from the local area are taught basic horticultural principles through a programme of monthly tutorials and practical demonstrations.

Trials of vegetables also take place here, testing their suitability to the local area's heavy soils and wet conditions.

Explore an edible forest

The Rosemoor Edible Forest Garden is based on one of the oldest forms of land use in the world, using principles that take advantage of woodland ecosystems. The garden includes fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables. Once established, this is an easily maintained system of gardening. These permaculture principles can be adapted to almost any size of garden.

A unique, modern learning space

The Peter Buckley Learning Centre is our base for all education visits. It is a valued resource for schools with two large classrooms and a covered outdoor terrace – so we can work and teach whatever the weather.
