Have a wicked half term at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, with Halloween-inspired activities for your little monsters!

Discover deadly plants on a family garden trail, take part in spooky craft activities and Forest School, meet some weird and wonderful creatures with ZooLab and enjoy enchanting tales from the Garden Detectives.

Garden admission applies; free to RHS members and children under 5. Activities are included with garden admission (unless marked *).

Wicked plants trail

Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November
9.30am – 4pm

Follow our family garden trail and spot the ingredients for a witch’s potion to cast your own magic spell! Learn about beautiful but toxic flowers, insect-munching carnivorous plants, freaky fungi called dead man’s fingers and plants used for spells and potions.

Colouring in sheets in the library

Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November
Drop in 11am – 4pm, Library

Drop into the Library every day during half term for some colouring in fun.

ZooLab ethical animal encounters

Monday 28 October – Friday 1 November
11am, 12noon, 1.15pm and 2.15pm, Sunley Room

Prepare to be amazed as ZooLab introduces you to a rotating cast of weird and wonderful creatures. ZooLab’s passionate experts are committed to the highest standards of animal welfare.

Suitable for all ages (must be accompanied by an adult)

Forest School

Monday 28 October and Friday 1 November
Drop-in sessions 11am – 2pm

Let imaginations run wild in our outdoor forest school workshops and craft something wicked using natural materials found around the garden.

Garden Detectives

Tuesday 29 and Thursday 31 October
11am, 12:30pm and 2pm, location depends on the weather

What’s Halloween without a little storytelling magic from the Garden Detectives? Gather ‘round as we share spooky tales and enchanting stories.

Suitable for ages 3+ (must be accompanied by an adult)

Story Yoga Sessions

Wednesday 30 October
11am, 12.30pm and 2pm, Learning Centre

Relax and chill out with our family yoga activity.

Limited availability due to room capacity. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the session to avoid any disappointment – no booking required.

Animation workshop*

Friday 1 November

Do you love animated stories? Learn how to animate your own designs in this interactive one-hour workshop.

Create your own leaf art

Inspired by the awesome autumn colours in the garden? Get creative with your family and create your own leaf art. Share your pictures on social media and make sure you tag RHS Garden Harlow Carr. You will be in with a chance of winning a prize.
