A second chance to join Olive on this very popular workshop; early booking is recommended.

This full-day workshop covers the essentials of growing your own vegetables, including assessing your site and soil, understanding vegetable families and crop rotation, planning what to grow and when, and getting to grips with spacing and cultivation techniques.

Drawing on her wealth of experience, Olive will guide you through the key principles of successful vegetable growing and answer the questions that concern beginners most.

The course will include an illustrated talk, a guided walk through the productive garden, and a demonstration of seed-sowing techniques for maximum germination, with the opportunity for you to have a go yourself.

Please Note:  There will be contact with compost, so covering of cuts and scratches advised.

Location: Bramall Learning Centre
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival at the Main Entrance and make your way to the classroom.

Catering:
  • Tea and coffee will be available throughout.
  • Drinking water is available, and we suggest the use of a reusable water bottle.
  • You are welcome to bring your own lunch or purchase food and drinks from RHS Harrogate Arms or Bettys. Both are just a short walk away, but can be busy at lunchtime, so you may wish to purchase food before the course begins. Full details can be found here.

  • Your booking reference
  • A pen/pencil and notebook for notes
  • Gardening gloves (optional)
  • The course will include time outdoors exploring the gardens, so please wear clothing and footwear suitable for the weather conditions on the day.
