Celebrate the bounty of autumn and our heritage apple harvest with a weekend of cookery demos, expert talks, garden tours, live music and a fabulous food and craft market

5 – 6 October 2024
Saturday and Sunday
10am – 4pm

Enjoy a relaxed family day out at our autumn food event – Festival of Flavours, sponsored by Atkins Ferrie Wealth Management. Get take-home tips from chefs and local food producers, discover more about our apples, shop for treats in the food and craft market and get into the festival mood with live music, all at RHS Rosemoor.

Garden admission applies. Free to RHS members and children under 5.

All talks, tours and cookery demos are free with garden admission, available on a first come, first served basis.

Celebrate growing and cooking

Get inspired to grow and cook your own tasty ingredients with live cookery demonstrations, talks from local growers and expert advice from the RHS Rosemoor gardening team.

Food writer and grower Mark Diacono will demonstrate how to mix up botanical-themed cocktails using home-grown ingredients, Tineke Cooks Cookery School will guide you through delicious seasonal recipes and Cornish Country Cordials will give a pasteurising demonstration.

Apple marquee

Our iconic orchards are a highlight of early autumn, and this year we’re expecting a bumper apple harvest! Take time to explore the orchards and then head to the apple marquee in Stream Field and see displays of the vast variety of apples we grow. Taste some to discover your favourite variety and enjoy apple pressing demonstrations, too.

Don’t forget to bring along your own apples and our apple experts will identify the variety. Please bring at least two fruits from each tree.

Street food and craft market

Tuck into freshly made stone-fired pizzas and delicious vegan and vegetarian food, plus a cider bar from Honeywood Orchard and relax with a crisp, refreshing cider made just three miles from RHS Rosemoor.

Head to the craft and food fair in the Garden Room. Chat to local traders and craftspeople and browse seasonal produce, deli treats and gifts from 40 exhibitors – see list of exhibitors below.

Live music and festival fun

Get into the festival spirit with live music from Crockern, a 3-piece folk band from Dartmoor (Saturday 5 October), and James Spencer and Rebecca Balzani Barrow, with a mix of folk and country-infused rock (Sunday 6 October).

Keep an eye out for stilt walkers towering above the garden, and don’t miss impressive demonstrations of forestry logging using heavy horses in the Lower Woodland. This traditional method helps protect the forest floor and the plants and habitats there.

Family activities

There’s plenty for families to enjoy too! Have a go at tree climbing and forestry skills with The Kids Adventure Company, follow the painted pebble trail and meet birds of prey from North Devon Falconry.

Tree climbing is suitable for children aged 5–16.

Garden tours

Take a tour of our heritage orchards and Fruit and Vegetable Garden with members of the Edibles Team. Discover how we train our apple trees and learn about the fruits and vegetables we grow in our wet but temperate climate at RHS Rosemoor.
