    Spinning natural wool

Learn the ancient tradition of spinning in a relaxed and friendly environment. Discover the joy of hand spinning on a traditional spinning wheel to make your own woollen twine for the garden and to create yarn for all your fibre projects. This introduction to hand spinning aims to teach you how to use a spinning wheel to produce a 2-ply yarn from prepared fibres.

You will learn how to set up a spinning wheel and the principals of tension, explore natural fibres and how to spin, ply and finish your own yarn. By the end of the day you should have a hand spun skein of yarn for the garden, your crafts or just to admire.

Chris Lennox has been spinning for over 16 years. She is a qualified teacher and has taught groups, individuals and provided spinning demonstrations. Chris keeps angora goats and spins their fibre. She also has a collection of over 30 spinning wheels! This is her first workshop as part of the Courses and Workshops programme at RHS Rosemoor, and we are pleased to welcome her in 2025.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera (or mobile phone for photos
Please wear closed-toe shoes. The workshop will include some time in the garden, so please bring/wear clothing suitable to the weather on the day.

Lunch and refreshments included.

Tutor: Chris Lennox
