The hugely successful Second World War campaign to supplement food rations with homegrown veg and fruit using any spare ground in gardens, allotments and public parks is a great model for today’s focus on sustainability, reduction of food miles and self-sufficiency.

In this workshop at RHS Garden Rosemoor, we look at making the most out of your available growing space including tips on soil health, choosing the tastiest crops of vegetables, fruit and herbs for year-round production, successional sowing, companion planting and how to deal with common garden problems.

We will spend some time in the classroom and then head out to the Rosemoor allotment area for ideas and inspiration.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera or mobile phone for photos if you wish
Please wear clothes and footwear suitable for the weather on the day. Parts of this workshop will be taking place both indoors and outside.

Tea, coffee and cake are included.

Tutor: Viv Hunt
