Explore our Autumn Woodfest event at RHS Garden Rosemoor. A fun-filled weekend of activities, wood crafts, plus much more for all the family. See artisans at work on traditional crafts, including woodturning, carving and whittling, basket weaving and spinning in The Garden Room. There will also be a chance to purchase some stunning wood crafts from some of the best wood traders in the region.

Ben May will be back with his stunning heavy horses demonstrating traditional logging in our lower woodland. Learn more about ancient trees with walks and talks hosted by the Ancient Tree Forum, or get involved with forestry schools skills or survival skills. You can also have a go at archery or even tree climbing, which can all be discovered in the Stream Field.

Don't forget to take the time to relax with a beverage and choice of delicious foods from our catering outlets, including the Shepherds Hut in the Stream Field. Or visit the Garden Centre for a full range of ornamental trees, advice and planting tips, open Friday & Saturday, 10am–5pm and Sunday, 11.30am–4.30pm.

What's taking place over the weekend

Woodfest Crafts: stalls and demonstrations in The Garden Room:

See artisans at work on traditional crafts, including woodturning, carving and whittling, basket weaving and spinning. A chance to also purchase some stunning wood crafts from some of the best wood traders in the region.

Lumberjack Tree Trail (daily):
Families can explore the whole of the gardens with a wonderful tree trail.

Experiences in the Stream Field:
  • Kids tree climbing with The Kids Adventure Company
  • Learn archery with Exmoor Archer
  • Learn more about our ancient trees with the Ancient Tree Forum
  • Chainsaw carving with Gary Orange and an opportunity to meet Gary and purchase some of his stunning work
  • Meet some majestic birds and talk to their trainers from North Devon Falconry
  • Tree planting demo with one of our arborists
  • Oak Tree Pete demonstrations using a shaving horse and spoon mule and the tools he uses
  • Learn new skills with the Riverside Project
  • Dartmoor Woodcraft will be available to teach you more about the heritage art of creating Stave Baskets
  • Learn more about the importance of The Woodland Trust and Working for Wildlife, plus the Forestry Commission
Guided walk of woodlands outside of normal public access – 2pm, Saturday–Sunday: Meet at the Learning Centre

Lower Woodland:
Saturday 11am–4pm & Sunday 11am–3pm
Ben May and his heavy horse team will be removing felled trees from the Woodland the traditional way. There will also be the opportunity to talk to Ben more about this traditional way of woodland management. 

Higher Woodland Walk:
  • Forestry School skills with The Kids Adventure Company
  • Survival skills with Jonny Crocket of the Survival School
