In more detail
- Intricate screens in the canopy of the pergola cast shadows into a shady area of the garden. The planting here is soft and pastel punctuated with hot pink tones of Sanguisorba
- Trees including Gleditsia, Rhus, Prunus and Cornus add height to garden, while a backbone of shrubs provide a foil to purple-toned Phormium, Physocarpus and Loreopetalum
About the garden
This is a garden we can all appreciate – it offers a place to sit and enjoy the plants, landscaping, pergola and decking as well as to look out and enjoy the view beyond.
The planting features Cercis canadensis, Robinia pseudoacacia and Sorbus ‘Pink Pagoda’ trees beneath and alongside, which are planted everyday favourites – Echinops, Agapanthus, Veronicastrum, Echinacea and Miscanthus in colours that are soft and subtle.
The whole is a pleasing and relaxing space in which plants spill over their alloted space, jostling for attention and providing a calming environment.
