World-class landscape

The stunning landscape, designed by one of Britain’s most influential designers, award-winning Christopher Bradley-Hole, runs along the entire area – walking visitors through a world-class garden and up to the entrance of the Welcome building.

Dune-like hummocks of clipped shrubs and an impressive colonnade avenue of cherry trees (Prunus x yedoensis) create seasonal drama and dappled light. More than 250 native trees – including silver birch, aspen and Scots pine, are planted in and around the car parks to make them more horticulturally diverse and nature-friendly.

Picturesque ribbon planting

A contemporary ribbon of grasses and perennials forms the 'threshold' between the car parks and the garden itself. Plants include: Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’, Gaura lindheimeri, Sesleria caerulea, Molina caerulea subsp. caerulea  'Moorhexe', Sanguisorba officinalis 'Tanna', Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' and Monarda bradburyana.

Christopher Bradley-Hole said: 'This is a wonderful thing to be involved with. I am making a contemporary intervention. I would like to bring clarity and unity to the garden and create a sense of anticipation. It is an opportunity to do something that has a sense of place and purpose, making a setting that is memorable.'

Green Wisley – better for people, better for the planet

'This project has been an opportunity to create something that is timeless and will last.'
