Did you know...
- The impressive backdrop to the garden has been created by graffiti artist Russ Meehan, whose work has been in demand since the Manchester terror attack, and incorporates bees - a key element in the garden
- The industrial past of the city was important in the development of the garden design. The wooden pergola pays homage to this story, and frames a view through to the industrial background depicted in the mural
About the garden
This garden is designed as a modern urban backyard for a young couple, using a mix of traditional and contemporary materials to create a beautiful and functional space. It is intended as somewhere to rest and relax with family and friends. At the heart of the garden is a wooden structured pergola over a rendered seating area. Surrounding it are raised brick-built flower beds, a water feature and a paved path. The colour scheme of the planting is a reflection of the Suffragette Movement – purple for loyalty, white for purity and green for hope. The plants have been specifically chosen to attract bees.RHS People’s Choice Award
