• Along the entrances to the garden, lavenders and rosemary line the path, not only giving scent to those passing by but also being potential botanicals for gin making
• Focusing on the garden’s gin theme, the central covered area allows people to socialise around a high sided bar and plenty of planted botanical inspiration
• Purple planting has been well used to create textural and colour contrast, for an impactful display - from dark purple heucheras against green box (Buxus) domes to low growing claret-flowering salvias against front-of-border silver stachys

About the garden

This contemporary space features a bespoke copper gin bar, which is designed to feel like a pontoon floating on dark, flowing water. It is covered by a clear perspex canopy, which is held up by four bold pillars. These contain internal shelves filled with herbs and trailing plants.

Cool, grey paths lead through the garden, and there are deep borders with mirrored boundaries to reflect the
planting, which features a range of perennials. Many of these are the fragrant, edible botanicals and pollinators found in the production and flavourings of today’s gins and tonics. The colour scheme of the planting is designed to complement the use of copper. Other garden features include vertical planting, which is ideal in small spaces, and some etched stonework.
