Mixing perennials and grasses, the 'frothy' planting around the circular layout has been designed to link to the garden's theme of the brewing industry.

Did you know...
- A simple circular design uses powder-coated, metal sheet screens to give privacy and a backdrop for the grasses and perennials swaying in the summer breeze
- Inspired by the brewing industry, with subtle references such as the Yorkstone paving linking to beer's chemical symbol and the 'frothy' planting representing a pint's head, the garden will be rebuilt in a local pub after the show
- A timber curved bench provides plenty of space for seating, reminiscent of a pub's serving bar and allowing visitors to sit, relax and revel in the intimate planting
About the garden
This garden is a celebration of the 190th anniversary of brewery JW Lees. The design draws inspiration from the brewing industry, interpreting materials, features and processes in a contemporary style and composition. It is partially framed by tapered shaped glass screens, providing a foil for grasses, which are interplanted with deep red and amber perennials to represent the inviting flow and textures of a freshly-poured pint.
Integrated within the planting is a continuous ground-level circular rill, which encloses a calm space to sit and contemplate with familiar elements and materials of a traditional pub.
A sweeping curved feature bench is reminiscent of a serving bar, and the inviting pub atmosphere is added to with a log fire and brass detailing.
