Summer Fruit Pruning
Join Marcus Chilton-Jones, Head of RHS Garden Bridgewater, for an in-depth walk and talk all about summer top fruit pruning. This workshop is suitable for confident gardeners with some existing horticultural knowledge. Learn the underpinning principles of summer pruning restricted forms of top fruit with a focus on apples and pears to increase both productivity and improve plant health. Followed by an opportunity to view these principles put into practice in our walled garden. You will also have the opportunity to put these skills into practice. The tour will be approximately 2 hours long, with most time spent outside in the Garden. Tutor: Marcus Chilton-Jones, Head of RHS Garden Bridgewater. Location and arrival information: The workshop will initially take place in the Learning Studios within the Welcome Building, then move out into the gardens. Catering: No refreshments are provided for this workshop. Please bring along a refillable water bottle, or you are free to purchase refreshments from the shop or cafe prior to your workshop. For this workshop, you will need:

A notebook and a pencil to make notes
Please bring a pair of gardening gloves
Please dress according to the weather conditions on the day and bring along a waterproof coat, hat/glasses/sunscreen – most of this workshop will be spent outdoors in the garden.
Skill Level: Upskiller – Suitable for gardeners with experience who have mastered the basics of gardening and would like to build on their horticultural knowledge and skills.
