Although I initially started my career in farming, my passion for plants and gardening began in earnest when I joined the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew to undertake the three-year Diploma in Horticulture. Whilst a student I became interested in orchids, and after completing the diploma I stayed at RBG Kew for a further six years working in the orchid department. I was part of the team that put together the first ‘Kew Orchid Festival’. Since this time, I've had a wonderful career, which has included Cambridge University Botanic Garden (Glasshouse Supervisor) and Temperate Curator at the Eden Project. Before joining the team at RHS Garden Hyde Hall in 2015, I worked for the Sainsbury Laboratory Plant Science Research Facility at Cambridge. I have a keen interest in education and was awarded an MSc in Environment and Development Education in 2001. Away from plants, my other passions include music (playing guitar) and football.
