Adam works as a freelance video editor and part time gardener in Brockley, South East London. ‘Urban Street Plants’ is a continuing project in-and-around his local neighbourhood, combining his passions for photography and plants. He has an RHS diploma in horticulture and loves creating landscape, street and garden photography, exploring interactions between plants and humans.

Anne was born in Wales and now lives in Hertfordshire where she grows her own flowers at an allotment, having run out of space in her own garden. She loves the challenge of growing new plants and finds the process of photographing flowers immensely rewarding and enjoyable.

BARRY WEBB: Revealing the Unseen World of Slime Moulds

RHS medal History: First Time Exhibitor.
Barry Webb FRPS is a specialist ultra-macro photographer, living in South Buckinghamshire UK. He is fortunate to live close to several ancient woodlands that are sensitively managed in order to maximise their biodiversity. Barry has been recording and creating detailed images of minuscule, ethereal slime mould fruiting bodies, found on decaying material, on the woodland floor.

Benn, now based in London, is from a farming family in Durham, north east England. Growing up in working rural spaces in an agricultural landscape sparked a captivation in the plant life that surrounded him. That fascination persisted after moving to the city where he created an urban garden in which he now grows all subjects of ‘The Garden Construct’ series of his works.

Christine is a botanical, garden & landscape photographer and garden historian. She is currently researching the Earthly Paradise Garden. She has spent extended periods in Japan photographing Kyoto’s temple gardens, Hokkaido’s snowscapes and bonsai masterpieces. Christine writes about 17th century English gardens and run tours and courses on English & Japanese gardens.

She has exhibited internationally and has work in collections that include The V&A and The Museum of Fine Art in Houston. Her work is represented in The USA (East Coast) by Klompching Gallery, New York. Elaine is known for the intense focus on her subjects whether they be objects or plants.

JOHN SHEPHERD: Shepherd Images from the Species Malus domestica

RHS Medal History: Silver-gilt 2019, Gold 2022.
John is a photographer and in this age of digital photography, he’s been drawn into capturing images of natural history specimens observed in Yorkshire Gardens and Wildlife Reserves. He has expanded this interest into the creation of Botanical Style Illustrations where the colours, textures, shape of the plants, many unseen by casual observers, provide the elements to make pleasing compositions.

JULIETTE SCOTT: Tulips – Never Too Old To Dance

One of Juliette’s greatest joys is selecting which tulip bulb varieties to order for her garden in Northumberland. She grows a real mix so as to ensure a long flowering succession; many of which she cuts to arrange in vases. These tulips from when they burst into flower up until they are wilting are of huge photographic inspiration to her.

Libby Ellis is a fine art photographer who creates black-and-white contemplative portraits of garden-grown flowers. Like early photographers, she relies on sunlight and does not digitally edit her portraits. Libby’s work is exhibited in museums and galleries in the US, UK, and Europe. A series of Cosmos bipinnatus was recently acquired for the permanent collection of Harvard Divinity School.

LINDA GOWER: Pensthorpe Millennium Garden

RHS Medal History: First Time Exhibitor.
Before retiring from her teaching role, Linda’s main hobby was gardening. Since then, having taken up photography, gardening now comes second! Her favourite photography genres include macro, abstract, architecture, street and all things monochrome. But combining the photography with an interest in gardening in a wonderful garden such as that at Pensthorpe in North Norfolk is always a treat.

Mark lives in the south of France and has extensively explored the region with a focus on its botanical richness. The climate range in the Aude from the Mediterranean to the Pyrenees results in a beautiful and diverse flora. He is out most days through the year with his camera capturing this beauty.

Melanie Chalk is an avid photographer with a keen eye for capturing the essence and intricacies of flowers. Having cultivated a deep appreciation and affinity with plants, through her career as a florist, she has a passion for photographing the delicate marvels of flowers often in captivating close-up as well as adding further creativity in post processing.

Michèle Lazenby is an artist and senior lecturer teaching on the BA and MA Photography programmes at Sheffield Hallam University. Artist’s residencies undertaken include Guapamacátaro Art and Ecology Hacienda, Mexico where she contact-printed cacti. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in various collections including the Wellcome Trust and Dow Jones.
