Canal & River Trust: Message in a Bottle

Global Impact Gardens
Message in a Bottle is a conceptual garden depicting a large bottle floating towards the shore. Inside the bottle beautiful planting symbolises the positive message that we can all help to prevent plastic pollution within our gardens, alongside our canals and rivers and within our daily lives.

Visitors may catch glimpses of the gardener at work inside the bottle, watering and tending plants. The plants, selected for their colour, form or usefulness, include many species grown to produce natural fibres for use as alternatives to plastic. Surrounding the bottle is a sea of flax – chosen for its attractive flowers, seed heads, movement and texture and for its use as a natural fibre to make linen and resin.
