The Northern Roots Oldham Garden

The Northern Roots Oldham Garden showcases a pioneering green space project called Northern Roots, which will create the UK’s largest urban farm and eco-park in Oldham.

At a time of increased concern about climate change and environmental crisis, Northern Roots explores how we can utilise vital urban green spaces to provide economic and social benefits to local communities, while preserving and enhancing our natural environment.

Paying homage to Oldham’s industrial past, the garden incorporates pavings that once lined the floors of Oldham’s historic buildings. Its centrepiece is a visually challenging undulating roof structure.
