Occupying an imagined space between two buildings in Nottingham, this garden transforms a small unused space into a relaxing urban ‘pocket park’. The garden includes the use of reclaimed materials, which embrace the urban context and limit the garden’s environmental impact. They include sheet piles, reclaimed from construction waste and form a large central planter.
Careful consideration has been taken to maximise seating. At the front of the park the space is more public, designed for a place to sit to drink a coffee. Further into the garden is a larger, more social area for groups to relax and socialise.
Artwork and poetry run through the garden. Celebrating Nottingham as UNESCO World City of Literature it complements the planting and provides graphical interest.
