“A compact tree, suitable for any size garden, which is great for colour therapy due to its different seasonal colour interest. Copper coloured leaves appear in spring, topped with a mass of flat cream-white flowers. Glossy leaves throughout summer are a great backdrop to the red berries. In autumn the leaves turn to brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow which can boost mood on grey days as the colour lasts well after other trees have dropped their leaves. This tree is also great for wildlife.”

Lamium maculateum ‘Beacon Silver’ – dead nettle

“Delicate, mood-lifting and ethereal. Useful groundcover in the depths of winter.”

Quickly forms a silvery carpet of foliage with whorls of long-lasting, nettle-like, magenta flowers in late spring and early summer. A beautiful groundcover plant that will light up the base of deciduous or even evergreen shrubs and trees.

“A striking evergreen euphorbia with leathery dark green leaves, that develop showy bright red tips in autumn for winter interest, making them great to watch as they slowly go on to produce zingy lime-green flowers in spring and summer.”

Erysimum ‘Apricot Twist’ – wallflower

“An evergreen perennial wallflower with grey-green, producing sweetly fragrant, orange flowers from early spring to early summer, occasionally flowering again in late winter which can be mood enhancing especially on grey days.”

“Red tinted orange flowers which have an uplifting quality when you need it the most. They have a long flowering season from late spring to autumn and is known for attracting bees.”

This adaptable perennial is a sterile cultivar, so it will produce an abundance of apricot-orange flowers over a prolonged period throughout summer and into autumn. These are held on leafy stems that form an attractive clump of divided, toothed and scalloped foliage.

Plant lists are provided by the designer of the garden as a guide to the plants they hope to use in the garden based on the time of year, the location and the Client Brief. The plants that feature at the Show depends on a variety of factors such as weather during the growing season and availability. While the designers try to update lists where possible, the accuracy of the list cannot be guaranteed.
