Have a wicked half term at RHS Garden Wisley, with Halloween-inspired activities for your little monsters!

Discover deadly plants on a family garden trail, take part in ghostly seed planting and spooky craft activities, meet fascinating creatures with ZooLab and join Chris Jarvis from CBeebies for his fun-filled show, The Spooky Plant.

Garden admission applies; free to RHS members and children under 5. Activities are included with garden admission (unless marked *).

Wicked plants trail

Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November
Weekdays 10am – 4.30pm, weekends 9am – 4.30pm


Follow our family garden trail and spot the ingredients for a witch’s potion to cast your own magic spell! Learn about beautiful but toxic flowers, insect-munching carnivorous plants, freaky fungi called dead man’s fingers and plants used for spells and potions.

Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November
Drop-in sessions 10am – 4pm, The Clore Learning Centre

Drop into the CLORE Learning Centre and get stuck into some wicked planting or spooky craft activities.

Suitable for ages 3+ (must be accompanied by an adult)

ZooLab animal encounters

Monday 28 October – Friday 1 November
Bookable sessions at 11.30am, 1.15pm and 2.30pm; quieter sessions at 10.15am and 3.30pm, The Clore Learning Centre


Come and meet some fascinating creatures! The insects and reptiles of ZooLab have gone on an adventure to RHS Wisley to discover how wicked some plants can be.

Suitable for ages 4+ (must be accompanied by an adult). Booking required:

Walk and talk

Tuesday 29 October
10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm, meet at Clore Learning Centre

Join us for a guided walk around Oakwood to see some of autumn’s highlights. Meet some wicked plants and learn terrific tales of mythical trees. Walks last approximately 30 minutes.

Suitable for ages 4+ (must be accompanied by an adult)

Storytime at RHS Hilltop

Monday 28, Wednesday 30 October and Saturday 2 November
11am, Hilltop Auditorium

What’s Halloween without some spine-tingling stories? Join us for some spooky tales and scarily funny stories in the Hilltop Auditorium.

Did you know some plants eat insects? Drop in and plant your very own insect-eating carnivorous plant to take home.

Trick or seed

Thursday 31 October
10am to 3pm, Waterlily Pavilion


Come dressed up ‘wickedly’ and visit our Trick-or-Seed station in the Waterlily Pavilion.

Children aged 3+ will receive seeds (must be accompanied by an adult)

Join Chris Jarvis from CBeebies and his friends Flora, Daisy and Oleander for a musical story and learn fascinating facts about wicked plants and their hidden powers. Discover how looks can be deceiving, and that love and care have the power to transform even the spookiest looking plant.

The common apple is believed to have originated over 8,000 years ago in Central Asia. Did you know that there are now over 7,500 apple varieties grown worldwide? Do you have an apple tree in your garden and want to know what it is called? Bring a sample to our Apple Identifying Session, where our fruit specialist will help you learn all about your homegrown apple.
