Contraindications for Drumming Meditation

Drumming meditation is generally safe and beneficial for many people, but there are some contraindications and precautions to consider:
  1. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Individuals with PTSD may find the loud, repetitive sounds of drumming to be triggering and distressing.
  2. Psychotic Disorders: The repetitive nature of drumming can potentially exacerbate symptoms in individuals with psychotic disorders. It's important for anyone with a history of psychosis to consult with a healthcare professional before participating in drumming meditation sessions.
  3. Severe Anxiety or Agitation: Those experiencing severe anxiety or agitation, particularly individuals with conditions like dementia, may find the stimulation from drumming overwhelming.
  4. Hearing Sensitivities: People with hearing sensitivities or conditions like tinnitus should use caution, as the sound levels can be uncomfortable.
Please arrive by 4pm at the glasshouse for registration -  Completion of a Health Screening form is required before participation. Once session starts no late comers can be admitted.

It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns before participating in a drumming meditation session.
