Why do modern gardens look so different from the neat, formal ones we see in Victorian photographs and drawings? In the late 19th and early 20th century, William Robinson – one of the British Isles’ most influential horticulturalists – championed and popularised a more naturalistic gardening style that used hardy plants to create landscapes that mimic wild spaces.

In this Old Laboratory exhibition at RHS Garden Wisley, discover Robinson's written works and ideas, learn about his connection to Wisley and how he became such an influential figure, and become immersed in his vision of a 'wild garden' through beautiful artwork and photography, before heading out into the garden to explore the kind of landscapes he inspired and advocated.

Please note: Normal garden admission charges will still apply to enter the garden.
