Choose your perfect tree

The Jubilee Arboretum is Wisley’s best kept secret – a quiet haven for a summer picnic or an ideal place for a relaxed stroll.

It is also the perfect place to choose the next tree for your garden. At the entrance closest to the trials field, the silver lime avenue (Tilia tomentosa) is surrounded by the fastigiate tree collection (trees of a narrow, upright nature) and then, in comparison, the weeping tree collection.

Relax and explore

Beyond this, excellent collections of Tilia (lime), Quercus (oak), Liquidambar (sweet gum), Fraxinus (ash), Betula (birch) and Malus (crab apple) all continue, interspersed with evergreen trees for a pleasing landscape display.

While still relatively young for a collection of trees (it was planted in 1977 to commemorate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee), it is still a wonderful part of Wisley to explore.
