We often see butterflies, moths and bees grace our garden flowers throughout the summer but perhaps don’t stop to observe them closely.  In this workshop you will study the intricate beauty of our garden visitors and have the opportunity to draw and colour one of them using coloured pencils. Under the expert guidance of award winning artist Janie Pirie, you will be shown how to make moths look ‘furry’; learn how to capture the fine details of patterned wings in insects such as a peacock or red admiral butterfly, and portray the delicate, gossamer wings of the humble bumble bee. This workshop is suitable for all levels.

Please note: Participants will need to provide their own drawing equipment and are also encouraged to bring a good quality, clear image of a chosen insect to use as reference. A suggested materials list will be provided before the workshop. Janie will have some images available and a good selection of pencils which can be purchased on the day.

Tutor: Janie Pirie
