Higgledy Hyde

Tucked behind the Winter Garden is Higgledy Hyde, an adventure play area for our youngest visitors.

Higgledy Hyde

Located just behind the Winter Garden is a children’s play area, Higgledy Hyde, named as a result of a local competition. Nestled among the trees is a large wooden tower with a 7m (23ft) high lookout point. Balancing beams, a seesaw, a slide and climbing bars can also be found here. The play area has attracted a new audience to Hyde Hall and is helping to inspire the next generation of gardeners and nature lovers.

Children’s play area

We created this specific space for play in 2011, as part of our master development plan across the garden. The first stage of this was Higgledy Hyde. We encourage natural play in the garden, where there are paths to explore, hills to roll down and wide open space to run in, but this beautiful structure encourages children to climb, role play and explore.
