Sharing the story of plants
The courtyard's eighteen raised beds are each planted to deliver a specific learning message, which collectively tell the story of plants. Among them is a bed devoted to cereal crops, to help children learn about our hunter-gatherer ancestors and how they evolved to become farmers, as well as beds of medicinal and culinary herbs. In addition, visitors can see ferns for shady places, alpines for altitude, a range of grasses, wild flowers, bog plants, meadow flowers, exotics and tender perennials.
