Exhibition of Botanical Art

Botanical artist

We are delighted to announce that the Selection Meeting for new botanical artists to exhibit with the RHS from 2025 onwards, will take place on Thursday 19 September 2024.

All artists who have not previously exhibited at the RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show, must first submit a sample of four pieces of work to the RHS Botanical Art Judging Panel for assessment and approval at the Selection Meeting.

Submissions of high-quality prints are welcome from artists based in the UK and overseas. All print submissions should be representative of the size and quality of the original artwork and each piece labelled with the title, date of painting, medium, artist’s name, postal address and email.

Prints should be sent rolled in a poster tube, to arrive at the RHS Lindley Library by Tuesday 10 September 2024. Parcels from overseas should be marked £0 for customs. Please note prints cannot be returned.

In exceptional circumstances, original artworks (from UK-based artists only) may be submitted. Please contact the Botanical Art Panel Secretary before making arrangements for the submission of original artwork.

Please read the Exhibitor Factsheet  carefully for full information on preparing for the submission and exhibition of your botanical art.

Botanical illustration emphasises the depiction of accurate botanical information with aesthetic appeal and should document the anatomical and functional aspects of a plant through its lifecycle. Artists are strongly advised to paint from living plant specimens and to make use of photographs for reference only.
