The Macmillan Legacy Garden has the theme Growing the Future Together and it celebrates the incredible kindness of ordinary people who, in leaving a gift in their will, gift a future of hope for those living with cancer.
The triangular garden can be viewed and entered on all sides and a metal pergola acts as a ribbon, gift-wrapping the garden. Under the ‘bow’ is a calming water feature that serves as a focal point for contemplation, with a birch sapling to represent the future hope offered by a gift in your will.
Beneath the three tall birches – referencing how a third of Macmillan’s services are funded by gifts in wills – is airy planting of grasses to bring movement, and perennials in soothing white, greens and soft yellows with occasional pops of blue.
Key plants: Salvia, Achillea, Agapanthus, Betula (birch)
