Trail of Thoughts

Back to Back Gardens
The Trail of Thoughts Garden is designed to raise awareness of dementia.

The planting represents the fading of memory. Exuberant and colourful planting with flowers of all shapes and sizes from shrub roses and salvias to erigeron and verbenas give way to a garden that becomes grassier and less colourful. Here the focus is on Stipa tenuissima and Echinacea before reducing to ferns.

Central to the garden is a dry stone wall that gradually curves around a path while dropping in height to enclose a well. Through its construction limestone sections slowly degrade to weathered stone. Within the top of the wall is a copper pipe carrying water to the well
