Inspired by the 'The Roots in Finland Kyrö Garden' at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, designer Taina Suonio shares what plants you need to re-create this look at home
Greeting you in the spring with the sensual scent of Lily of the Valley, the Silver Birch bursts into leaf, showing its beautiful bright green jagged-edge leaves. As the summer progresses, Geranium sylvaticum starts blooming. Carl von Linné himself said that there is no finer flower in the woodlands than wood Crane’s-bill (Geranium sylvaticum). The Corylus has lovely large red leaves, contrasting with Matteuccia struthiopteris’ bright green buds and fronds to form a great composition.
