Gardens in NHS spinal injury centres
Horatio’s Garden is a national charity that creates and nurtures beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres to support everyone affected by spinal injury. We grow thriving communities to support patients, their families and friends facing long stays in NHS hospitals. Leading landscape designers create these sanctuaries, working in collaboration with prominent architects to design garden rooms ensuring the space can be used all year round. The gardens become an integral part of people’s lives throughout their time in hospital. We sell a range of beautifully bespoke merchandise, including Emma Bridgewater mugs, herbal hand and body cream, alpaca socks and stationery items – all profits go directly to the gardens.
A celebration of garden visiting
The National Garden Scheme is the most significant charitable funder of nursing charities in the country, donating over £50 million so far. We help our garden owners open their beautiful gardens to the public, sharing their passion and raising impressive amounts of money through entry fees, teas and slices of cake.
History of British orchid growing
The Orchid Society of Great Britain is a club for anyone who grows orchids, amateur or professional. It provides the opportunity for members to meet socially, to display their orchids, to acquire new ones and to learn about them.

Plant Heritage National Plant Collections
Saving garden plants is the message of this exhibit – showing that National Plant Collections are a unique source of research, education and inspiration. Each contributes to the conservation of and sum of knowledge about these plants, keeping them in cultivation for the future. This display showcases four collection holders and their research. Lucy Skellorn has developed a collection of cultivars bred by her great-great-grandfather, the ‘father of iris breeding’. Roger Parsons has spent decades tracking down sweet pea cultivars. Simon Charlesworth focuses on species lavenders that are vulnerable, near-threatened or endangered. Oxford Botanic Garden contributes research on the medicinal uses of plants in their Euphorbia collection. Sponsor: Plant Heritage.
