Key plants n the mgr Changing Tides Garden

Plants have been chosen for their interesting adaptions to the harsh conditions of coastal habitats. Their flowers are less important to the design. The low growing sedums are very low maintenance and will grow in shallow containers, which could even dress a table top

Pinus Sylvestris ‘Watererii’

Needle-Like leaves reduce water loss and prevent tearing.

Crataegus monogyna

A hardy shrub or small tree with a deep root system and tough foliage, good as a windbreak to slow down winds. 

Crambe maritima

A robust herbaceous perennial to 75cm, forming a clump of large, lobed, wavy-edged blue-green leaves, with dense racemes of small white flowers in early summer.

Foeniculum vulgare

Tall plant with flexible stems that bend without breaking.

Sedum acre

Sturdy low growing plants are able to conserve their resources and soak up excessive water from storms.
