The garden is sponsored by MS Amlin and they are a corporate partner of Mental Health Innovations (MHI). Mental Health Innovations (MHI) is a
charity that uses digital innovation, data-driven analysis and the experience of clinical experts to improve the mental health of the UK population through the provision of digital tools, support and resources. MHI runs Shout, a digital, confidential, 24/7 text support service for anyone who needs help with their mental health.

“As an insurer, we understand the importance of building resilience, and helping people maintain continuity in an uncertain world.  That’s why – in partnership with Shout – we’re proud to sponsor a garden that highlights the powerful connection between nature and mental health. By employing colour therapy, the garden demonstrates how nature can improve wellbeing, reflecting two of our sustainability priorities: supporting mental health and preserving the natural world.

“Our involvement in this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show also underlines our belief that charity partnerships should create meaningful, lasting impacts, beyond just donations.  Through this initiative, we’re strengthening our relationship with Shout, and helping them highlight their life-changing work in mental health.  After the Show, the garden will benefit another of our charity partners, Haven House Children’s Hospice, where it will be replanted to create a calming, therapeutic space for children and families.

“By showing how the environment can enhance mental health, we hope to raise awareness of our charity partners’ vital work and inspire more people to embrace the benefits of nature for their own wellbeing.

“At Shout, we work to support individuals in a time of need, to connect with them, listen to them and work with them on skills and coping mechanisms to manage their own mental health.

“Over 31% of our conversations are around stress or worry, equating to more than 178,000 conversations every year. Fuelled by the pandemic, and enhanced by the cost of living worries, these numbers have continued to grow year-on-year since service launch in 2019.

“Many of our texters speak about how getting outdoors, around nature enhances their mood. This may involve going for a walk, journals in the fresh air, listening to the birds, or just taking in the colours and nature. This insight reflects the garden inspiration and designer’s own journey of how gardening and colour therapy enhances his mood and mental wellbeing.”
