Meet the designer of the Komorebi Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025
Born in Japan, Masa Taniguchi was inspired by a book called Midori iro no yasumi jikan (Respite in the Greenery) by Hiroko Miwa, based in North Wales. So, at the age of 18 he travelled to Bangor where he started his education in the UK. From there he studied garden design and horticulture at Capel Manor College. Today Masa Taniguchi works at Garden Club London as lead horticulturist. See the Komorebi Garden Masa says: “It’s always been my dream to showcase at RHS Chelsea Flower Show since studying at Capel Manor college. RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a world-renowned event where designers and horticulturists can exchange ideas and learnings. The Show has visitors from all over the world with different aesthetic preferences, it’s a place to come together and celebrate the diversity we have as a horticultural industry. I have been in horticulture for many years, but only now do I feel I have gained enough experience and have a support network around me to achieve a worthy garden. I am hoping that this experience will take me to my new horticultural journey.”
