Meet the designer of The Rain Garden at RHS Malvern Spring Festival 2025
John Howlett has been a television and theatre director for 15 years, directing many high-end television shows including Eastenders, Casualty and Made in Chelsea. He decided to follow his passion for garden design in 2023 and graduated with a distinction and special mention from the London College of Garden Design in 2024. His historical restoration design based on an Arts and Crafts inspired garden and former quarry in Oxfordshire was nominated and shortlisted by the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers in 2025. This is John’s debut show garden for the RHS. He has also been selected to design a border at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival in 2025. See The Rain Garden
John says: “I want visitors to understand a little more about water management and how you can still have a beautifully designed garden whilst addressing water management.”
