Meet the designers of Room to Breathe Hospital Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025
Jen Donnelly, Jen Donnelly Garden Design
Jen is a garden designer working in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. After two decades in the corporate world, she retrained graduating from the London College of Garden Design, in 2021. With a strong passion for mental health and well-being, Jen’s designs emphasise a harmonious blend of practicality and aesthetics. She believes in striking a balance between functionality and beauty, focusing on creating spaces that enhance how people engage with the outdoors—whether for socialising, relaxing, appreciating nature, or simply enjoying the benefits of having a beautiful place to unwind.

Catherine Gibbon, Botanique Gardens
Catherine is a garden designer based in Buckinghamshire, she graduated from KLC Design School in 2021. Having grown up in South Africa, Catherine developed a love for outdoor living and a deep connection to the natural world, which continue to inspire her work.
Catherine’s design philosophy is rooted in the principle of ‘function follows form’. She focuses on sustainable, year-round planting, creating cohesive outdoor spaces where people can enjoy the outdoors while feeling closely connected to the environment.
Jen and Catherine say: “Designing a garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show offers an incredible opportunity to showcase creative ideas on a global platform. It’s a chance to push the boundaries of garden design and engage with an audience that truly appreciates the art and emotion behind each element. This year, we felt inspired to create a sanctuary for caregivers while supporting the Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA). Given the challenges many face today, it’s the perfect time to inspire hope and resilience through this garden and raise awareness for a cause close to our hearts.”
