Each year the RHS Malvern Spring Festival encourages children and young adults in the local community to take on a horticultural challenge

This year, the theme is ‘Around the World in the School Garden Challenge way’. Using their favourite country or city as inspiration, students, teachers and volunteers are bringing incredible creations to life. View all the amazing entries below:

Paddington’s Peruvian Paradise

Tudor Grange Academy, Worcester

Students explain their design: 
Peru – a country of cultural and historical significance. Where the Rainbow Mountains meet the Amazon, and ancient grains, lush tropical plants and flowers flourish and is home to a marmalade-loving bear.

The Downs Malvern

Students explain their design:
We explore the wonderful, contrasting Forest School environments over three different continents. From a Jungle School in Costa Rica, Bush Kindy in Australia to the chilly mountains of Norway. Prepare to be transported!

A garden to show the beauty of Hawaii with an awareness of the problems of pollution that our world faces.

Students explain their design:
The garden is inspired by the book and tv series narrated by David Attenborough, Our Planet.

The NJK Primary Fantastical Faithful City Garden

Norton Juxta Kempsey CE Primary School

Students explain their design:
The garden theme will be our favourite city – Worcester. Iconic buildings, places and people will represent a flavour of the faithful city for visitors.

A tranquil Japanese garden

Dyson Perrins C of E Academy

Students explain their design:
A fusion of plants, stones and water bring the essence of Japan to life. A mosaic stream runs diagonally through the foreground, surrounded by vibrant greens of herbs and ferns. The gaze is drawn to the centre where a torii gate sits atop a moss and flower Yin yang. Asymmetry is achieved in the corners, with a zen sand garden, lily pond, and moss mushrooms. Green simplicity is accented with colourful textile offerings.

The garden is inspired by our favourite cities and famous structures from across America, which are represented by floral displays created with recycled and organic materials.
