Macmillan Legacy Garden

Show Gardens

The Macmillan Legacy Garden takes inspiration from a wonderful overgrown garden in Worcestershire. The garden was designed and built in 1911 as a lasting legacy. Similarly, Macmillan Cancer Support was founded in 1911, by the kindness of someone leaving a gift in their will. Little did that person know just how impactful their legacy was to become.

A once-formal entrance to the garden leads the visitor through the established, naturalistic planting and on to a secluded shelter with a weathered oak bench. As they wind through other perhaps more overgrown paths, they are led into a smaller, more private, seating area and to the ramshackle back of the shelter.

Who can resist a look behind the formal facade of a garden to delve into those hidden areas to find a place and time for reflection, and comfort?
