Evergreen and deciduous viburnums

Practical tips

Viburnums come in all sizes, so check the ultimate height and spread before buying, to ensure your chosen plant will fit your available space long term.

Evergreen and semi-evergreen viburnums

There are many evergreen viburnums that give year-round interest and make good screens, hedges and specimen shrubs.

Deciduous viburnums

These viburnums lose their leaves over winter. Many have very fragrant winter and early spring flowers (including Viburnum × bodnantense, V. × burkwoodii, V. carlesii and V. × juddii), others have bold summer flowers and most (except sterile forms) produce autumn fruits. Some also provide colourful foliage displays in autumn, before the leaves fall.
