Self-clinging climbers for sun

Self-clinging climbers need no support to climb. If you give them a little initial encouragement to start climbing unaided they soon begin to cling well to a wall or fence as they grow.

The following self-clinging climbers will be good on a sunny wall or fence.

Practical tips

Help your plant get a foothold on the wall or fence with a little temporary support from wires or a metal frame.

Self-clinging climbers under 10m (33ft)

Whether evergreen or deciduous, there are quite a few self-clinging climbers for you to choose from to suit a small space.

Robust self clinging climbers to 10m (33ft) or more.

Where space is not an issue there are some self-clinging climbers that will relish the shelter and sunshine of a south or west facing wall, and some will grow in shade too. The following are just a few.
