Pittosporum by size

Practical tips

Pittosporum tobira needs the shelter of a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory in winter, unless you live in a big city or have a coastal garden in the UK. All the others listed here will grow outside all year, except in the coldest areas of Scotland and northern England.

Compact pittosporum growing 1–2m (3⅓–6⅔ft) tall

Good for any size of border and useful in containers, these pittosporum can be lightly clipped in spring and late summer to encourage tighter, neater growth.

Medium to large pittosporum shrubs – 2–6m (6⅔–20ft)
