Clematis for shady walls

It can be difficult to add colour and interest to north and east-facing walls, but there are a number of clematis that will grow happily in a more shaded spot. Early summer, twice-flowering types are particularly suited to a shadier position, as this can help to prevent premature fading of flower colour.
