Clematis for growing into trees

These vigorous clematis can be used to add interest to an otherwise bare trunk and complement the foliage and flowers of a garden tree. Only the most vigorous, like Clematis flammula and cultivars of C. montana and C. tangutica are suitable for growing through an evergreen tree or conifer; most will perform best grown into a small-medium sized deciduous tree.
