White-blotched cistus by size

With so many cistus species, hybrids and cultivars available, it can be hard to visualise their differences and know which would work best with your planting scheme. To make the choice a little easier, here are some of the most popular and widely available cistus with white-blotched flowers, divided by plant height.

Most grow to a width equal to, or slightly larger than, their height – the notable exceptions being Cistus ‘Gordon Cooper’, which is low-growing but particularly wide, and C. ladanifer, which has a more upright shape.
