An evergreen shrub with climbing stems up to 4m high, dark green pinnate leaves up to 15cm long and made up of 13 to 25 leaflets. Hanging clusters of up to 15 deep pink, claw-like flowers, each 7cm long, appear in late spring and early summer

Cultivation
Grow in well-drained soil in full sun on trellis, wires or other supports, and in a sheltered position such as a south-facing or west-facing wall, or under glass; use a thick dry mulch to protect the roots over winter
