An upright, deciduous shrub to 2m or more tall, with large, ovate green leaves that turn shades of yellow, orange and red in the autumn. Bare winter stems are coloured orange-yellow with bright red tips. Flat, dense clusters of creamy-white flowers in summer are followed by blue-black fruit
