- JUDGING AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Stage 1: To facilitate judging, the RHS and BBC The One Show will review the eligible entries, entrant data and photos to do an initial sift, followed by an assessment to create a longlist based on:
- the impact a garden makeover would have on the winner, or those around them; and
- the creativity and imagination suggested for the transformation, and how it would relate to or benefit the winner
- Stage 2: The RHS and The One Show will review the longlist with the relevant photos and addresses to consider feasibility of the transformation and to create a shortlist. As part of the review, the BBC The One Show team may undertake social media checks relating to you (and where relevant your nominated person). By entering the Competition, you confirm that you (and where relevant your nominated person) have not acted, or omitted to act, in any way that may bring you, the RHS, BBC or BBC Studios into disrepute. Information that you disclose to us, or which we discover, will inform our selection process. BBC, BBC Studios and the RHS may at their discretion, disqualify your entry based on this information. This information will be shared with the BBC’s editorial policy advisor and with the RHS (where appropriate) and will be handled in the strictest confidence and as with all personal data, in accordance with the Privacy Notice.
- Stage 3: The shortlist will be passed on to a panel of judges made up of a representative from BBC Studios (The One Show), a representative from the RHS and the garden designer leading the transformation. The panel of judges will choose the finalists. A remote or in-person visit to nominated gardens/outdoor spaces may be required as part of the selection process.
- The RHS will notify the finalists from 19 March using the details provided on the entry form. The RHS will make reasonable efforts to contact the finalists. If a finalist does not respond to the RHS within two working days, another finalist will be selected by the panel of judges.
- Once the finalists have been notified, BBC Studios may contact all finalists (and their nominator if applicable) to arrange a broadcast interview(s) and/or to film them for social media videos.
- All finalists (including their nominators, where applicable) will need to be available for a selection of dates between Monday 14 April 2025 and Friday 2 May 2025 for filming. The finalists will be informed if they are the winner during filming. The winner and the winner’s garden/outdoor space may also be filmed during the garden/outdoor space makeover and on its completion.
- The panel of judges’ decision as to the finalists and the winner is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
- The RHS and BBC intend to announce the winner and the finalists from 5 May 2025 (the Announcement Date) on The One Show. The RHS and the BBC may change the Announcement Date (including to meet any BBC editorial requirements which leads to a change in schedule or programme content) or the way in which they announce the winner and finalists, at their discretion.
- THE PRIZE
- Out of the finalists, one winner will receive a garden/outdoor space consultation and makeover by a renowned garden designer up to the value of £6,000.00. This will include design fees, construction, materials and plants.

- The prize is not negotiable or transferable and there is no cash alternative.
- The RHS and BBC Studios will pay contractors directly.
- PUBLISHING DETAILS OF THE PRIZE
