About the garden
Moors Meadow Gardens, nestled on a hillside overlooking the serene Kyre Valley in rural Herefordshire, offer a tranquil escape and a wealth of inspiration. Spanning seven acres, this is an organic haven for plants and wildlife which has been lovingly nurtured by the same family since 1955. This continues today and is curated by a passionate plantaholic, blending rare species from around the world with native flora to create a distinctive and enchanting landscape. Meandering paths lead through a variety of areas, including shrubberies, grass gardens, cottage-style spaces, a spring garden, and productive herb and kitchen gardens.
Visitors can explore the lower garden, passing through handcrafted gates into a fernery, a flower-filled meadow, a bamboo grove, and the oak circle. Unique features such as the sunken garden, a dry stream bed, and towering Redwoods – grown from seed – add to the charm. Sculptures and seating, many crafted by local artisans or made from recycled materials, are scattered throughout, offering moments of rest and reflection. This extraordinary garden is ever-changing and its seasonal beauty, from snowdrops to autumn colours, offers something for every gardener.
