About the garden
Canonteign Falls is a breathtaking 90-acre estate nestled in the heart of Devon, featuring a beautiful blend of parkland, ancient woodlands, ferneries, lakes, and meadows. This privately owned estate offers an ideal destination for families, with hidden treasures and natural beauty waiting to be discovered. The enchanting waterfalls, framed by rocky cliffs and ancient woodland, flow into peaceful meadows and tranquil lakes, providing a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
For garden lovers, the Victorian Fern Garden, awarded Plant Heritage National Collection status in 2022, offers a glimpse into the 19th-century fascination with ferns and fairies. Visitors can enjoy a scenic climb up the original 90 steps, leading to stunning views of the Devon countryside. The estate’s seven lakes, diverse wildlife, and meadows add to the charm, with the lower lakes featuring a Labyrinth and poetry oak tree. A cream tea or afternoon tea at the café is the perfect way to end the visit.
