About the garden
Bridgemere Show Gardens is a six-acre garden and home to 15 individual and distinctive gardens, including eight RHS Gold and Silver medal-winning Show Gardens, which are recreations from the RHS Flower Shows from 1988 to 2022.
The gardens are located within Bridgemere Garden Centre in Cheshire, one of the largest garden centres in Europe, with many of the plants in the Show Gardens are available to buy from the Garden Centre.
New for 2024 is a Japanese-inspired garden. Recent additions also include three award-winning Show Gardens – The Blue Diamond Group Beautiful Abandonment Garden, winner of an RHS Silver Gilt medal at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2022; The Blue Diamond Forge Garden, winner of an RHS Silver medal and Best Artisan Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021; and Down Memory Lane, winner of an RHS Silver Gilt medal at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2021 and designed in conjunction with Alzheimer’s Society, a charity partner of the Blue Diamond Group.
The gardens can be enjoyed all year round and feature plants of national importance, including champion trees and rare and unusual plants. New for 2024, Bridgemere is honoured to be one of a handful of places where you can see an Isaac Newton’s Apple Tree, which has been propagated from the original tree found in the orchard of his childhood home, Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire.
In spring the gardens are a mass of colour, blossoming with crocus, snowdrops, daffodils and tulips, and the borders are tightly packed with spectacular colour from the rhododendrons and azaleas. In summer, herbaceous perennials such as iris, peonies and delphinium delight, and the formal beds are brimming with colour from the dahlias. In autumn the colours of the maples are glorious, and in winter, you can admire the topiary and the scented fragrance of the daphnes and witch hazels.
